Join Advancing Black Lives in Education (ABLE) for

Read to Rise!

 A Black History Back-to-School Reading Challenge

From August 3, 2026 to August 30, 2026, we encourage children, youth, and families to join us in exploring Black history and stories through the magic of books and other reading materials. ​

 

Here's how to join and participate:

​

• Register in the appropriate reading level category - Little Learners, Elementary Explorers, or Middle-High School Experience.​

• Each Monday, beginning on Monday, August 3, choose a reading challenge and activity from the list for your reading level category (click on lists below):

  • Little Learners Reading and Activity List​

  • Elementary Explorers Reading and Activity List

  • Middle-High School Experience Reading and Activity List​

• Complete that week's reading and a selected activity; then, fill in a ticket and submit it on or before each Sunday (Aug. 9, 16, 23, and 30) before 5:00 pm. Submitting a ticket enters you into a weekly prize drawing. Each ticket you complete (4 in total) will also be entered into a grand prize drawing at the end of the challenge.
